Because they are not only the most affordable while still being comparable in quality, they have a desirable heightened sensitivity rating. Personally I don't amp my rear speakers, I only amplify my fronts. Many people don't even run rear speakers. This is because of the sound stage theory. The ideal listening experience is to recreate the sounds of a live recording or performance. You want to hear the sound coming from in front of you, like a performer on stage. And having a lot of noise in the rear defeats that. You usually can't even hear the speakers in the rear, they just mess with the sound stage. And with how strong my front speakers are set-up, I can't hear my rear speakers at all. I just run them back there for whatever friends might be in the back seat.</p><p></p><p>That said, many people just leave stock speakers plugged in to satisfy the back seat passengers, you're really not gonna hear em up front.
