I have an 07 Acura TL-S, with the oem ELS 5.1 surround system that I am going to upgrade. I have already upgraded the stock sub with eDi amp and sub. I want to replace the front comps, as well as the rears (coax?), and add proper amplification. If I could get a 5 channel amp with 4 to the front, and 1 to the sub (replacing the eDi), that would be great. I don't want to worry about running 2 amps if possible, and the power requirements that go with it. My listening habits vary greatly...I listen to a lot of dvd-a's, rock/jazz/prog such as Floyd, Steely Dan, Porcupine Tree, a bit of straight-up jazz, and even throw in some hip-hop when I feel like some serious db. I have spent most of my retirement fund, as well as my kids' college funds on home stereo equipment, so I'm used to good sq (not the real esoteric stuff, but much higher end than the average guy). Although for this install I'd like to show some restraint, and get the best sq bang for the buck. I plan on running a Fosgate 3sixty.2 to give me plenty of tuning capacity. My original plan was to spend about $900 on an eDi 9.5 amp (100x4 + 600x1), a set of 6500 comps, and a set of 6000 comps for the rear. I've had the eDi 6500 comps before driven by a Zapco amp, and really liked the sound quality...but I'm sure there's better for similar money. I've read a lot of positive posts about the Rainbow speakers (which honestly I had never heard of previously), so they would be in the running along with DLS and probably a few others. Experienced feedback would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
