I assume there has to be a few experts here that may be able to help me out. My new car will finally deliver in a week or two after 2 long months and I want to get a sub for the car. Its a 2008 E92 BMW M3 Coupe. My last car was a 2001 E46 M3 and I had 3 10" JL Audio W1's and a 500 watt Alpine amp. Along with my other stereo mods it sounded pretty **** good. This time around, I opted for the $1900 stereo upgrade which comes with 16 speakers, a 9 channel 825 watt digital amp, including 2 8" subs mounted under the driver and passenger seat. I plan on using the stock headunit because its really all part of the on-board computer system / nav system. It allows me to access the stereo via the nav screen, has a built in eq, etc... Plus I cant really add a new headunit without screwing up the look of the interior. I am hoping the stereo will be suffcient, but I doubt I will be happy with the bass. I am thinking of adding 1 x JLW7, which is their top of the line 10 sub and should give me plenty of bass and sound better than the three 10"ers i had in my last car... I assume that is correct? Anyway I am considering this, being my first choice (due to space) - JL W7 Pro Wedge - CLS110RG-W7 Link: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_enclosures.php?menu=5&prod_id=302 -or- the more expensive (but larger which I dont like) JL W7 Pro Wedge - HO110R-W7 Link: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_enclosures.php?menu=1&prod_id=189 From there I am looking for a good amp, around 500 - 1000 watts, but it must have a Remote Bass Port. I am thinking of one of these two... I am not sure 500 watts is enough, but I am pretty sure its plenty for that one sub. Is this correct? First Choice: JL Audio Slash v2 500 watt x 1 mono sub amp Link: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=439 Second Choice: Jl Audio Slash v2 1,000 watt x 1 mono sub amp Link: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=440 I havent looked into car stereo equipment since I built the system in my old 2001 M3, so I am not sure these are still the better amps on the market, without going to handbuilt super expensive ones. Anyone have any better ideas? Lastly, the Remote Bass Port, which is cheap thank god: It allows you to turn the bass up and down via a knob you mount up front somewhere.
