The SnailShell is not a purposely built SPL box. The idea behind the box is great SQ with Low Loud Bass. Under the ideas I have read and been told, the idea of the snailshell is genius, by using different tuning levels internally the box gives it a unique sound, like for example the first port inside the box of 45 hz is for bass and the last port of 30 hz is for SQ..averages around 37 hz...but you get the bass and SQ you want. I have 2 RE XXX 15' quad 1 ohm subs being ran by two Kicker KX2500.1 amps. I had them in a custom built Subzero Ported enclosure. 8.0 ft at 35 hz and it was loud. I bought "ONE" SnailShell and ran one XXX in it. The SnailShell with the XXX was as loud as the subzone box with both XXX in it, and the SQ was twice that of the subzero box. I am running two SnailShells now and for an everyday bass vehicle i can flex my windshield and have the SQ I want.
