This is my first time posting here, but i'm hoping someone has come across the problem i'm having and can help. I used to work in a car a car audio shop when i was younger so i know a bit, but this has me stumped. I'll get right to it. basically, i have a 4 channel amp running 2 sets of component speakers and a monoblock amp installed for my sub. When i turn the bass level up for the sub either from the deck or from the sub amp gain, my 4 channel goes into protection mode every time the bass hits, but the sub keeps playing(it doesn't go in protect). The 4 channel works flawlessly powering all 4 speakers if my sub is turned off from the deck or unplugged from the box. I've tested everything i could think of. So my common grounding point for both amps has low resistance. I even ran a zero gauge from my negative battery terminal to a distro block for both amps. I tested the voltage on both amps and they are operating where they're suppose to be at. still did it. Next i eliminated all the variables i could thing of from the 4 channel, i unplugged all the RCA's and speaker wire so just the POWER, GROUND and REMOTE are hooked up. Then i turned down all the gains on the 4 channel to zero. Still did it. Next i turned down the gain on my sub amp, but kept the sub level maxed out on the deck. still did it.. I then checked the resistance from the grounds again just to see what it was. the 4 channel was what it usually was, but when i put the probe on the sub amp ground terminal it read funny...the resistance would clime really hight the more i turned the volume up? I'm not very good with resistance stuff so i'm hoping someone can maybe chime in and give me some ideas? All i have is either my mono block amp is messed up, or the sub itself it going?
