There's no such thing as a "good" HVLP spray gun for $50. You can get by with Harbor Freight or Home Depot guns if you only need to do a couple things and aren't real critical of the results, or if you have lots of time and don't mind sanding and respraying when your gun screws up. Think of it like a Pyramid or Pyle amp... yeah, they work and they're cheap. I use one of these for small items: http://autobodystore.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SATMJIII&Category_Code=3S This one is also good: http://autobodystore.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=DEVSRI625GW&Category_Code=1D One of these for larger items, with a small compressor: http://autobodystore.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SHP1&Category_Code=4S1 HVLP guns save materials by having less overspray. The downside is that they use air faster (more flow, not pressure). Get the biggest compressor you can afford, you'll never regret it. The 5-6 HP 25-30 gal portable units will handle small HVLP touchup guns and even air tools.
