"Always" use a Rubber Grommet or a Plastic Snap Grommet!!!,whenever you run cables through metal.Better to "Be Safe Than Sorry ".I wouldn't want to run the power cables through the steering shaft boot or the clutch boot or rubber. This part of the install requires *Patience*.Get a friend to help you out. First check to see if there is a grommet plug in the firewall "before" you decide to drill. If not, look for a suitable part on the firewall(where you can get a drill(preferrably a right angle drill, and there is no moving parts or alot of heat).Have a friend help you.Have him/her tap on an accessible part of the firewall while your in the car with a drop light. You will or may have to pull some carpet back to access this area.As their tapping, try to *feel the tapping action*.If there is nothing in the way.....that may be your place to drill a hole And don't forget the "Grommet" . Once you get the cable into the cabin area, also make sure to *Zip Tie* out of the way of moving parts and feet.and to make it "Secure" .*Do it Once...Do it Right*.All the Best with the Cable and Install.Hope this Helps you Altima .Take Care.
