I have an '81 Camaro with the original AM/FM radio, and I bought and installed an Audiovox FM Modulator. Not a transmitter, but the hard-wired kind. It's grounded to the firewall, and powered by a constant 12V "BAT" accessory power on the fuse box. Normal radio sounds fine, but music played through my phone via an auxiliary that connects to the unit sounds absolutely horrifically awful. It's like listening to music through a brick wall. Very muffled. I removed and installed the unit in my '84 Rabbit and it sounded awesome. I put it back in the Camaro, and tried different power and ground locations, to no avail. What's the deal? Has anyone else experienced this?
