Hi, first of all I want to preface this with saying that this is my first time ever attempting to install speakers in a car so if this question sounds ridiculously amateur, it is. I have a 2005 Hyundai Tucson, just bought two pairs of Infinity Reference 6032si speakers for the front and back doors off of Crutchfield. Taking off the door panel went surprisingly easy, but once I took out the factory woofer and tried putting mine in, I got stuck. The factory speaker is fixed to the bracket that screws into the door frame, so I need to use the bracket that came with the speaker. A set of holes on the bracket lines up fine with the holes that the old speaker was screwed into, but since the speaker is smaller than the opening itself, I have to somehow attach the speaker to the bracket. Since it came with no extra screws or other material, I'm not sure what the best way to do this is. I went to Home Depot and bought some screws and locking nuts that fit the holes on the bracket and speaker, but the nut on the other end is too big and therefore rubs against the metal on the door frame when I insert the speaker into the opening. Just to see how it sounded, I tested it out, and the speaker nearly sounds as bad as the other 3 factory speakers, distorting horribly at high volume with virtually no bass. My question is, what can I use to attach the speaker to the mounting bracket? I'm trying to do this installation with as little custom fabrication as possible, since I probably lack the tools and know-how to do so. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm on the verge of having Best Buy install them at $70/pair just so I know it's done right. Thank you all in advance!
