Hi guys, First post here from a newbie so please forgive the stupid questions. I posted this question on another forum but they seem to be having major bandwidth issues so I thought I'd re-post here. I have a 2001 Nissan Altima. Here's what I recently put in: Head Unit: Alpine AVA-W200 iPod Cable Amp: JL-Audio e6450 6 channel Amp Sub: JL CS110RG-W1v2 10" Sealed "Power Wedge" Front Speakers: Focal 165A1 6.5" 2-way Component Rear Speakers: Focal 165CA1 6.5" 2-way Coax Extensive sound dampening throughout vehicle. Am contemplating: Alpine PXA-H701 "Mutlimedia Manager" to add EQ capabilities. Here's the deal. I listen almost exclusively to music from my iPod. It's either ripped from CD or from iTunes or allofmp3.com (256VBR+). I listen to virtually everything: Opera, Classical, Jazz, Rock, Folk, Punk, etc. The sound is overall pretty good. Certainly way better than in my old BMW (stock stereo in a 740) and worlds better than listening to the iPod from battery powered speakers (what I was doing in the Altima prior). Overall I'm happy, however: I'm noticing however that the treble from the front very noticeably comes from the tweeters mounted just near the door handles in their OEM spot. They're also on the bright side, but just more noticeable than anything else. I don't know if this is poor speaker placement or too-great distance from the 6.5" drivers or if I just don't like the sound from the metal tweeter as much as I did listening to them in a store. I just notice them a lot and it bugs me...as I prefer to just notice the music and the soundstage...not the speakers. I've used the HU to decrease the treble starting at 12.5k which helps a bit. I'm wondering if the addition of the PXA-H701 will help via more tweaks, if I should mount the tweeters elsewhere, or get some different front speakers. My co-worker loved them so he'd readily buy them from me. Am I asking too much of the entry level Focals or??? Any thoughts, opinions, criticisms, I-told-you-so's, insults, suggestions, etc. would be helpful...even if you want to say I bought a bunch of lousy products IYO... I did little research and may well have paid the price... On the other forum one person stated my amp was inadequate, but reading reviews that said it was a good amp which produced more than the rated power it seems I'm within the RMS of my speakers. Another suggestion was to get a sound meter from Radio Shack and determine what's going on. That's my plan to do this afternoon at lunch. A thought I had was perhaps I'm noticing issues in the quality of mp3's which I've never noticed due to not having decent enought equipment to listen to them on? Do they tend to be on the bright side? Many thanks for any help or opinions, plumpjack
