My battery has been dying alot lately and i took my car to my mechanic today. I tried to explain to him that I was planning on adding some speakers to my car and i would be running two amplifiers (one for my components one for my subwoofers). I told him one is a 2000 watt amp and the other one would be smaller. I explained to him that in my old car my lights would dim whenever the speaker hit. I tried to explain to him that some people upgrade there alternators to help with this problem. I also said i believe there are some kind of "special" battery that people use to help also ( I cant remember what there called....yellow top or something). He told me someone was probably just trying to sell me a battery and that he dont think i need to upgrade my alternator. He did say that adding a second battery should take care of my problems. Is he correct? For some reason from reading around in this forum (WHICH IS GREAT HELP BTW) I believe i need to upgrade my alternator. Right now i plan to run a hifonics bxi2006d (2000 watts but over-rated) to push two 10'' type r's. I also have a pair of morel tempo 6 6.5 components that are going to need an amp. I also plan to one day upgrade to a Sundown SAZ-3000 (3000 watts underrated) to push some higher quality speakers(Maybe some fi bls). My question is what all do i need to upgrade to help with power draw. Ive heard of the big 3 upgrade somewhere. Whats that?
