effects of underwiring

True..i was messin around termlabing the other day....all of a sudden my bass cuts out...i open the door and smell smoke...ends up part of my positive speaker wire melted...i was using 12 gauge...should have been using 10 or 8 gauge for my DD....gotsta be mo careful !

can this ruin subs? i had 1000 watts running on 8 guage (thought it was 4 lol) but one day by sub just stop playin.. thought i blew it because the amp is more powerful but maybe something else went wrong and my sub is not blown

Did 8 guage wire kill your sub? No.

Did you check the wiring? Terminals can be the weak link.

Maybe something else went wrong. Or maybe your sub is blown.

kent

12Ga should be fine... not gonna fit 2x8Ga wires (sometimes 3 depending on how its wired/ how many subs) into a single 8Ga sub terminal without trimming it up anyways
Could you put one wire in the front half way, and then the other wire coming out of the back of the terminal also half way in? idk, just wondering I guess
