Eclipse CD8454 Help

I've been having a problem for a few weeks now, and I have no idea how to fix it! I previously had a Clarion DXZ665MP, and it developed a problem where the right channel wouldn't function. I could also hear what I now think is alternator whine (it only happens when the ignition is on, and not when the ignition is off and the cd still playing).

I have a Clarion APA4101 amp hooked up to it, and when I directly connect my mp3 player to the amp (using the exact same signal RCAs as the HU, in the front of the car), it works perfectly.

I purchased an Eclipse CD8454 earlier this week, and got it hooked up, but it has the same problem! The lights on the HU also flicker sometimes while driving, and it still has the alternator whine. Does anyone know what could be the problem?? Thanks!

Anyone have any ideas? I ordered a new wiring harness, but I'm not sure if that would fix the problem.

I noticed a new problem as well... I'm using my mp3 player to play music, but the HU keeps on turning off (I need it for the 12v amp turn on) randomly. Could this also be related to the flickering issue??

I'm still stuck with this problem. I did some experimenting today, and this is what I've found:

When Using HU as Source:

• A whining noise when ignition is switched off (disappears when key is still in, but not in the ignition position).

o Whining doesn’t increase with volume.

• The right channel is much lower in volume than the left channel

• If gain knob on amplifier is lowered to absolute min., everything seems to work fine (except for whine, and I can hear the cd spinning through the speakers).

• If RCAs on back of HU are switched, the right channel is still the channel with the lower volume.

• If speaker outputs are switched, the right channel is still the channel with the lower volume.

When Using MP3 Player as Source:

• Everything pretty much works perfectly, but the sound will sometimes cut off or the HU will turn off.

Does anyone have any advice at all? Every time I think I have the problem down, I find something that disproves it as the culprit. Thanks.
