[QUOTE="toy4x, post: 2324468, member: 571120"] I've had both as well. Malamute's are very friendly dogs. They are big (ours was 125lbs) but never will be used for protection for your family. They love everyone and will go with anyone that takes them. Loved my Malumute and still miss her. Our husky is a great dog too(55 lbs). We got her at a Malamute/Husky rescue. Smart as heck and both are great during warmer weather, so dont worry about that. Yes they do like cold weather and actually will sleep out in the snow with no problems. They have three coats that help them keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Both dogs were runners, door opens and they were gone. Can't blame them, all in the training. Malamutes are VERY VERY STUBBORN!! It takes a lot of training for this breed. They will literally talk back to you if they dont want to do something. GREAT WITH CHILDREN!! Must have a decent size yard and "work" these dogs. We trained her to play tag, were she would do all the running and we would have to try and tackle/ grab her. Huskies same thing, but a little less trusting around small children due to their hyperness. They are a little more hyper compared to a Malamute. Both dogs are great but if I had a small kid, big yard, time to train, and wasn't looking for protection, I would get another Malamute in a heartbeat. Personally trying to get another one myself.
