If you're not aware of what it's about, Michael C. Hall plays a serial killer who kills bad people(usually other serial killers). He also works for Miami Metro homicide, with his sister. Seriously, it's a great show. There are twists within every season, plenty of gore, and even philosophy. The majority of the show is played out with Dexter's thoughts narrating. I actually think once the series ends I'll start back at season one. It's almost as good as Lost in that way.
