I LoL'ed a bit at this thread. Didn't see it earlier as our internet was down for a few days getting some upgrades to the wiring. I made a big ol' post about pre-orders a while back on CACO so I won't revisit that in full... I've worked my butt off for 6 years to get more capital via banks, investors, etc and we now have a huge level of inventory at any given time thanks to that. In short... many customers WANT to pre-order, they build lots of interest in a product, but nobody is forced to participate -- I answered 10+ e-mails TODAY with people asking me to open a pre-order our SA-6.5CS component set (which has already been fully paid for, by the way)... so I will likely open up pre-ordering once they leave the factory to satisfy those customers. Capital flow is, of course, a big issue with any growing company. Pre-orders can help smooth cash-flow over a bit, sure, but I don't gamble with the customers money. If we do a pre-order it's already covered -- the pre-order just helps keep cash-flow smoother over time rather than a big period of nothing then a huge inrush. Anyway... we aren't perfect as company as that is impossible as we are just a bunch of humans; especially when going through periods of rapid growth when demand for our time out-paces the amount we have available -- but overall I think we've done the right things over the years and our growth shows that it's working. Obviously we cannot please 100% of the people 100% of the time -- but the ratio is very good.
