Im going to buy a sub and im trying to decide between these 2. a kicker 12" solo-baric L7 ($155 the ebay auction says factory renewed. does anyone know how these perform) or a 12" alpine type r ($135). im looking for a real deep/low bass tone. ive heard that since the kicker is square it produces deeper tones cause of the more surface area than a circle, but also the kicker will need a bigger box/more expensive box and a more powerful amp to power it, and is a little more expensive. im not too sure about the alpine but ive heard many good things and i can find it for 20 dollars cheaper, also the box is cheaper. i listen to alot of reggaeton and rap if that helps. what do you guys think i should buy?

The L7 will get louder than the Type R but the Type R will sound better than the L7, although L7's can sound nice in the PERFECT box, i would go with the L7 then get another one in the future.

well ive decided to buy the L7. but what kind of amp will i need to power it. i see all these different kind of amps 2 3 4 channel mono and i dont really know what all that means so if someone can tell me which i will need or recommend an amp i should use.

you will need a mono channel amp.

either a class D, DE, or A/B

nothing too high like over 250. 250 MOST. i have pioneer speakers in the front and the rear 2 are stock i dont know if that will affect it. which should i get?

i just finished a box for one type R 12" tuned to 36 hz, put 1000w on it, and it was much louder and hits a **** ton lower than the 2 square 12"s i heard the other day they hadd 1600watts going to them, the install is almost done, and we'll get it metered within a few weeks
