50 years of a "drug war", and what have we achieved? We all agree that curbing gun violence will not be achieved by getting rid of guns, yet we think we we'll cure drug addiction by telling China to stop illegally sending fentanyl our way? Because they listened to us when we tried it in 2018? I think we've brought it all up, but we were most recently talking about exports for the chart that a trend line was drawn, as represented by a chart each one of us posted. I probably said jobs instead of exports when the chart said exports(?) The reversal for exports happened in Q2 of 2018 (WHEN did he impose tariffs on imports? Q2 of 2018. Coincidence?) and lasted almost 2 years until COVID hit, so we can't blame COVID. We are using numbers that take COVID out of the equation. I'm not sure why we can't assume a two-year-long downward trend would have continued, but you feel we should assume the downward trend would have simply reversed again, and skyrocketed for 2020. Again: TAKE COVID OUT OF THE EQUATION. Take Trump's numbers from 2017 (which followed the already-existing upward trend) to the point of reversal, to the COVID crush. Stop right before the COVID crush. Now take Biden's numbers from where all that was lost to COVID was regained. This means Trump gets no blame for the COVID decline, and Biden gets no credit for the COVID recovery. When you do that, the numbers favor Biden's performance by a LONG shot. So if you bracket the peaks and the troughs, what performance do you see from the point when he enacted tariffs, until COVID hit? Not only did a decline start in early 2018, but by mid -2018 it completely left the channel and continued down before COVID knocked it WAY down. Ditch COVID, and pick up Biden right where Trump left off. Call it the "blip". What kind of growth do you see? He used the same reason back in 2018. So Trudeau is under fire for illegal immigrants coming here, or into Canada? If Canada, how does us paying more for the products we buy convince Canada to improve their own border protection? Remember: Countries are trying to keep illegals OUT, not their own citizens (or illegals) IN.
