[QUOTE="Jimi77, post: 8884449, member: 673702"] Just a dose a of reality about Trump's tariffs. Keep in mind that Sleepy Joe just increased China tariffs earlier this year - I'm sure you all remember Rachel Maddow, the harpies on The View, Anderson Cooper and Paul Krugman screaming "The sky is falling!!! Tariffs don't work!!! The economy will implode!!! Inflation will go thru the roof!!!" when Sleepy Joe raised tariffs, because obviously tariffs would be bad regardless of what party is in office. I'm not saying the tariffs are solely responsible or even mainly responsible for the increase in manufacturing jobs, but manufacturing jobs did indeed increase under Trump. And that massive spike in inflation that screeching left promised would happen - never happened. I'm not saying that tariffs are responsible for low inflation. Looks like median inflation hovered around ~2.25% for the duration of Trump's time in office. And I'm not crediting Trump for low inflation, as a matter of fact I think the POTUS has minimal impact on inflation, but the fact of the matter is inflation was low during Trump.V1. Additionally, there is a rumor to the effect that tariffs don't work. However, tariffs have a long history of working and China uses them quite effectively to shield their economy to this very day. I'm not sure where this rumor of tariffs not working started, but it's another in a long line of fallacies. As we can see, we had rapidly growing economy + "high" tariffs until the 1950s. Additionally, it should be noted that a tariff only need be temporary to have the desired effect; once manufacturing returns to the US, hypothetically, the tariff could be reduced to increase market competition and drive down prices.
