I went to a local shop yesterday to start browsing for my future system. I listened to an alpine 10" type X in a sealed box powered by a alpine MRD-M1005 amp (supposedly 1000 watts). While it was clean and hit well, it wasnt as good as i had hoped. I WANTED to audition an IDMAX, but they said they never have those to listen too, have to special order it and its $600!!!.... The salesperson said the typeX sounds as good or better than the IDMAX, which i find to be a bit concerning since the alpine didnt blow me away at all. Is he right? would yall say the IDMAX sounds very similar to the alpine? I wish i could audition an IDMAX, but cant find one :-( The salesman also said that they stopped selling diamond audio because the speakers kept falling apart after 1 to 2 years. I was looking at HEX's because ive heard them before and love them. But i was really worried after hearing they fall apart! Any input on this as well??? I was thinking of going 2 IDMAX 10's or 1 IDMAX12. Kinda bummed right now...
