I want to upgrade from the coaxials I have in my car to some 6.5'' components. However, I am unsure of how many watts I need. My sub isn't much right now, just a sealed 10'' RE SE-X @ 600 watts. However, when I swap vehicles in the future I will probably get a 15'' @ 1200 watts and ported. (Something like a Fi Q/SSA Icon/IA Flatlyne/etc...) So I want my components to keep up. I was looking primarily at Image Dynamics CTX65cs WoofersEtc.com - CTX65CS - Image Dynamics 6.5" Component Speaker System But then I was wondering about some Phoenix Golds WoofersEtc.com - RSD65cs - Phoenix Gold 6.5" Component Speaker System How would the Phoenix Golds do when paired with something like a ported Fi Q 15''? I don't want them to be completely drowned out by the sub in a normal daily setting. I am just wondering how much louder and better sounding the ID ctx's would be compared to the PG rsd's. Since one has 100 watts RMS and the other has 60 watts RMS. This also brings me to decide on which amplifier I should get. I want to get a Sundown, but they are more expensive than other brands. So I want to get something that is a little cheaper but still gives me good SQ. I was thinking about JL or Soundstream. Would those brands be good for SQ and provide clean power? Still pretty new to car audio. I am also open to suggestions. My budget is about $400 max, but under budget would be great. I just want to know if the PG comps could keep up with the subwoofer I mentioned earlier.
