Alright, I have an Alpine Hu (9507) and I have a PG ti500.4 amp. My system is running at 13.8 volts and drops to 13.6 volts I'm testing the amp.
Alright, the amp is rated at:
18x4 wrms @ 4ohm running at 12.5vdc
75x4 wrms @ 4ohm running at 14.4vdc
I used an oscilloscope and a DMM. When I was tuning the amp I couldn't get it to go higher than 25wrms without clipping. I use a multi freq test tone @ 0db to test the amp. I used a multi freq test tone because when I just used a 1k test tone when I played music it'd clip.
This amp is very well rated and was recommended by multiple non-dealer people. The retail on this amp is about 1000. However, I got it for 400$. Anyways, Is this normal for an amp rated at this to be clipping in these conditions? Would upgrading my alt+battery fix this problem?
