[QUOTE="donpisto, post: 3412479, member: 568577"] *Before you read on, when I refer to "you" I'm not referring to the OP, but to people who are defending SPL subs as a daily woofer thinking it is what is needed to get loud.* What I'd like to know is, if you intend to use an SPL sub as a daily sub, do you plan on upgrading your frontstage? If not, then say goodbye to vocals because all you will hear is bass. I personally from time to time listen to rap just for the bass and I do understand that you want to get loud and an SPL sub comes to mind. Question is, how loud do you want to be for a daily setup on music? If you're looking to be in the mid to upper 140's, I think that is kind of ridiculous. You are leading yourself to damaging your ears. You may not care now, but you will later. Also what people don't realize is, its not always the subs you use, but the application. If you get a sub with good sq abilities and also can get loud and have a well designed enclosure, you don't have to worry about sending it 4,000w to get loud, you can get away with maybe just 1,000w give or take. I used to have a 10" underhung TC sounds driver that i threw in a .7 cube sealed box off 750w (trunk setup) and was doing around 132-133 on the TL. The box was for another sub. Had I made one specifically for this driver I'm sure I could have gained a bit more. Right now I got an 18" RL-p in a sealed enclosure and it got pretty much as loud as my dd 9515 in 5.5 cubes tuned to 38 Hz.
