Hi, I'm listening to an original manufacturer prerecorded cassette audio tape. This is a book on tape. It's all speech--no music. It's labled as having Dolby. When I play it on a tape deck with Dolby B engaged it cuts tape hiss but also quite a bit of the high end of the voice. This is a man's voice. I'd consider of about average tenor. (Not a particularly high or low pitched voice.) If I play it without Dolby, the voice gains quite a bit of upper voice frequency, but I get tape hiss also. Tape deck is an Onkyo TA-W202. It's a dual deck. I got it on eBay. I'm using the second well because the main (left side) well squeaks and seems to have wow and flutter problems or else the heads are clogged up or something. Tapes played on that side drop out in spots, even after I ran a cleaning tape through it. So this may not be a very good deck. What could be going on here?
