Hello! I've been browsing around these forums a bit lately, doing some research and whatnot for my ongoing build, and decided to finally join the ranks. I hail from Charlotte, NC, and haven't been into high-fi home or car audio for too long, but my appreciation for it is growing (along with my debt ). I have a 2001 Mazda Protege MP3, which is the slowest car I've ever had the displeasure of owning. Honestly, I can't stand this car, and a Mazdaspeed 3 is on the to-do list in the next year or so. As doing any sort of performance work would be a complete waste of time, I've shifted my focus to audio! The current setup is below: Headunit: Pioneer Premier P600 Front Speakers: Infinity Reference 6812 2ch Amp for Fronts: Pioneer GM-3300T Rear Speakers: None Subwoofer: Alpine Type-R 1042D (Sealed; Box specs unknown) Subwoofer Amp: Alpine M-450 The focus of this work-in-progress is completely and utterly SQ. I need clean and powerful bass that doesn't overwhelm the rest of the sound, but is tight and flawlessly accurate (I listen to a lot of Drum & Bass). Hopefully you guys will be able to help me out with that. Just to wrap up, here's what I plan on doing in the next month or two, if anyone would like to provide some criticism or thoughts: 4ch Amp for Fronts & Rears: JL Audio 300/4 Front Speakers: Alpine SPX13REF or Pioneer Premier TS-C520PRS (I need something with a lot of midbass, and these seem to fit the bill. A lot of other brands get thrown around here that aren't at your average big box retailer or even car audio shop that seem good, but I don't think I have a way to demo them. Welp, thanks for reading, and I look forward to expanding what little knowledge I have about car audio here.
