1st Zach assured me in the beginning prior to even receiving the amp that if it was unrepairable he would refund my money. He assesed the amp when he recieved it and even modified the repair plan during the process, for which I paid in full for all parts and what he asked for as labor. He set the numbers not me. I recieved the amp in great condition, as I said previously I think his work looks great. However one of the fet hold downs (there are 2 different types) was put in the wrong location causing the hold down to touch the energised power rail and frying the realative power supply section. Zach stated he knows it was the wrong one but made sure it wasn't touching, and the shift must have happened during shipping, my stance is the double boxing looked great, there was no damage to the amp or the plexiglass inside the boxes, given the static position of the hold down it must have been installed inproperly for it to have been able to "shift" or it simply was put to close and didn't shift. No matter what the deal, it isn't my fault, and I sincerely don't believe it is a shipping issue. the amp is up and running now, an is actually crazy powerful, but I need a few fets to replace ones we had to substitute as the correct ones were not available on island. Either way, I have paid another $150 for a repair so far, and simply asked him to send me 12 supply fets and fedex them asap. His response was if I needed them I would have to pay for the fets, shipping to him, then the shipping to me. I diagreed with him, he said he would send me the 4 fets that were burnt, and that is all he could do as he was broke. For the cost of 4 fets, and waiting for the double shipment, I told him to forget it, I would order what I need and get some extra parts and fedex them myself. My stance is Zach is a good guy and seems to be a decent technician, but does not have the does not have the resources to carry the liability just incase he makes a mistake. I am of the opinion that if the mistake is his, he should take care of it. As he cannot, my opinion is he should not be doing repairs. Maybe one day when financial position improves he will be able to do repairs and not put the client at further risk. As you have stated, he is a new resource for amp repair, and I am the or one of the first to use him, hence why my feedback may be of value to others. Now once again I want to state, that Zach had great communicatioin, the work looked awesome, the packing for shipment was stellar. But the ability to take care of the issue after the fact simply isn't there.
