I think one of the best speakers for the money is the Diamond Audio s600s. These speakers have tons of clean midbass, clear mids, and clean highs. They handle tons of power and come with nice passive crossovers. As far as Bi-Amping, the advantages are huge when you have a HU with active crossovers like the Alpine 9813. This allows you to run "only" the appropiate frquencys to each Amplifier channel/driver. You can affect the imaging alot with your crossovers. Generally, the lower the tweeters go the lower you can set the "high side" of the mid range drivers which enhace your imaging with your tweeters set at shoulder level. You can adjust the individual levels (ratio) of your tweeters and mids on the fly. The same goes for the crossover frequency/slopes. What you need is a Bandpass (lowpass & High pass) for your mids-And a High pass for your tweeters. You do not-I repeat do not want to run your mids without a lowpass ending where your highpass to tweeters take off. Example: 80Hz Highpass to Mids & 2.5KHz Lowpass to Mids. Then 2,5KHz Highpass to tweeters. And finally a 80Hz lowpass to Woofer. The filters are designed to be -3dB at the cutoff frequency. That's half the power. Two halves get you back to 0dB. One filters stops...the other starts. I recommend getting a HU that has "3 way" crossovers. With the JL 300.4 you'll be able to run your components up front only if you Bi-Amp. You'll need an additional Amp for rear fill (back speakers if wanted). And one more Amp for your Sub. Ok passive crossovers 101; Disadvantages....Loss (1 to 3dB), phase shifts, fixed frequency, impedence changes, witha 24dB slope the losses can be huge. Also wasted power usually through a resistor for your tweeters. With active crossovers virtually none of the above conditions exist. All of the power at only the appropiate frquencys get to the Amp/Driver. Extremely tunable and therefore easier to tune. The BIG disadvantage of Bi-Amping is cost (2 additional Amplifier channels needed) and extra wires/Rca's. Sorry about the book, but this is a big investment so know what you're dealing with. BTW the crossovers on the 300.4 are not adequate because of the BandPass filter needed (or should I say desired) for the Mid drivers.
