[QUOTE="DARKHART, post: 852104, member: 544747"] You can have the best script in the world with the greatest plot or the worst with the worst plot, it's not the director or the writers call, because NOTHING gets made without the say so of the studio heads and they are the ones that are running the show and ultimately decide what get's made and what doesn't. Unforturenatly it is they who decide just how "black" or "urban" a movie should or shouldn't be, and I assure you not a single one of them truely has a clue about black or urban culture other than what they've seen on the news or read in some paper or have been told by their own non black or non urban think tank what it should be. Granted some directors have a little more pull than others, but unless they themselves are in a position to bank role the film themselves then they will always have to answer to the powers that be. It was this very reason why Mel Gibson ended up bank rolling "The Passion of the Christ" out of his own pockets, because he didn't want anyone trying to tell him how he should make this film that he felt so passionately about. He wanted to keep it true to "His" vision weather it be right or wrong. And because he did this himself he also had a win fall that hasn't been heard of in the film industry since Lucus first did Star Wars and choose to only keep the marketing rights to the franchise and we all know how well that turned out for him........ P.S. your title for this trend really do **** a*s, it could very easliy be taken out of context as it already has been by some very weak mind people on the forum...
