Bump. I notice the PR500 and Hifonics BXI 610 (500 and 600 watts RMS respectively) both have 60a fuses, while my Kenwood (500 watts RMS) has a 40a fuse. With a 40a fuse, they Kenwood would be physically impossible of putting out 500w RMS at 12.4 volts, even if it were 100% efficient (which it's certainly not), am I right? Really my concern is that I have a little bit more power to be feeding the subs. Right now they're getting "500w" total, but who that's just what the amp specs say. I feel like they could even take a little over 250 each, say like 300. If that's the case, then they could be getting around 400 with the capacity to take 600; 200w difference right there. And I could upgrade to a BXI 610 for FREE. (BXI 610 is $150 shipped; I found a buyer for my Kenwood locally for $150).
