Just got back from the TOOL show...all I can say is WOW. They pack an amazing amount of energy and the lightshow was absolutely phenomenal. I picked up the tickets on eBay late August after hearing TOOL was making another sweep around the midwest on the radio . I missed them the first time around...and I wasnt about to miss them again. I drove 4 hours up from Fort Wayne Indiana to Auburn Hills Michigan to see them at The Palace. (tons of construction... ). A band named Isis opened up for them at 8. They played for about a 1/2 hour then TOOL came on about 30-40 minutes after that. I had never heard of them before yesterday, but I was not overly impressed with them. They had sort of a heavy metal/screamo sound to them (very contradictory to what I heard from TOOL in terms of singing) but the guitar and drums were pretty good. better LIVE performance than NIN in terms of visuals and energy. Maynard was crawling around on stage, doing weird body movements and dances (especially during Rosetta Stoned), and was very funny. Stinkfist The Pot Jambi Forty Six and 2 Schism Lost Keys Rosetta Stoned Wings for Marie (pt1) 10,000 Days (wings for Marie pt2) The Patient Vicarious Aenima They really upped the ante after Schism and introduced a lot more of their lights into the experience...(hard to explain without a video) Vicarious and Aenima left me speechless to say the least and Rosetta Stoned was just flat out crazy in terms of visuals I was very impressed and I sure hope Im able to see them play again (best $78 ive ever spent) wished they wouldve played Eulogy, Right In Two (really wanted to see this one but oh well), Parabola, Lateralus, Sober, and Opiate...but what can you do? If TOOL ever tours again (within driving distance of me...) I am **** determined to get near front row seats...even if it means waiting in line for a few hours to get them. Only regret I have is not buying those large TOOL 10,000 day posters (like 6' wide or some shit...they were BIG). They were only $25 at the concert but are going for $100+ on ebay.
