[QUOTE="Lil Poot, post: 6109573, member: 561892"] i picked up a set of d1 recones for my audioque hdc3 18s, and when i did the first one, i used all but one of the shims they sent me. it was tight enough, i couldnt get the last one in. the cooling holes in the recone were also showing above the magnet's gap. when i went to do the other one today, i put in all the of shims and think i still have room to spare. this was also the sub that had the voice coil unwind inside of it and i kept playing it that way for a week or two, is it possible i took some material off inside the magnet? i didnt notice any metal shavings when i cleaned the gap out, or notice any nasty gouges. should i just continue with this sub using index cards to fill in the rest of the gap? is it no big deal the location of the cooling holes on the recone? i'm uploading a video ATM showing the coil movement i have with the audioque shims in.
