Audiopulse axis 12" with low power?

Im wondering if the Axis 12" (2500 RMS) would laugh at my Sundown sae-1200d? A fairly large ported enclosure would help bring down the power it needs correct?I was thinking 3 cubes at 28hz. If its going to be a bad idea,I will pass up on it. Price is real nice though

would I be better off with an Ascendant Audio havoc 12", or an FI Q because it would be fully powered? just thought an audiopulse axis for the same price as the AA or FI would be a no brainer, but if I cannot power it correctly...

define correctly. Any time your not running an amp on a test tone that you set your gains with your NOT putting 2500 watts to it. No matter how much power you put on it if your not playing it super loud it's probably not getting 2500 watts. 2500 watts only refers to the amount the coil can take thermally over a long period of time, it's not a requirement in any way shape or form. The idea that any sub needs or really wants thousands of watts only exists in the car audio realm anyway.

Anyway, what sounds better to you? A sub that your constantly running near it's thermal redline because your giving it RMS (apparently the only amount of power a sub will work on according to some ppl) or a sub that is able to effectively cool itself and stay away from numerous thermal related issues?

I know the deal you're referring too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

they only had three left, so make up your mind quickly, unless of course it's owned by somebody you know.

Its fine with 1000 watts, the new spec is 1000 watts long term anyway, you just wont have the peaks that a higher voltage amp will provide. if you port it, you can get more out of it. Check out the new VMP's (They just got released for sale tonight) if you want to effectively port in a very small box. You can match that with one 15" or VMP pretty nicely or two 12"s for cool factor + mass balance.

can you suggest a a size for an efficient ported enclosure? i would like to tune at 28hz

can you suggest a a size for an efficient ported enclosure for great low end extension? i would like to tune at 28hz

If you build a box too big you will never see 1200 after box rise, you have to factor in box rise anyway.
Bigger boxes are more effecient anyway which makes up for the lack of power due to impedence rise that's going to change be all over the place on a complex signal like music anyway. Unless he's metering with 1000 watts he's much better off with a larger box and port, at least until it becomes too peaky.
