It allows people to pay for items without having a debit/credit card. I recently sold a cell phone on ebay, it was paid for with an echeck and took 9 days to clear before the funds were in my paypal account. So basically I paid paypal 3% for something I could have done myself.I could have had the guy send me a check and it would have cleared faster.You can block the echeck payment by going to payment preferences on your pp homepage.</blockquote>
