WOW!! That's all I have to say. Do you know that less than 1/2 the people in the Air Force do anything with aircraft?? There's people on my base that haven't ever been on the flightline. As for what you want to do..Army...ARE YOU FRIGGIN NUTS??!! You scored a 94 on your ASVAB and you're considering the ARMY??!! You do realize that with that score, you could pick whatever job you want in any branch?? And with that score, you could join the Air Force or the Navy and not be surrounded by mono-syllabic morons? You wanna be a firefighter? That's great, a noble profession, do it in the Air Force or the Navy! Here's why... you become a firefighter in the AF or Navy, you learn how to deal with aircraft fires. That translates to massive amounts of money when you get out. You go Army, sure, you'll deal with vehicle fires, but mostly you'll deal with buildings and tents. Which means you get a job as a regular old fireman when you get out, and unfortunately, they aren't paid squat. Here's another thing to look at. Deployments, no matter what branch you go in, they're inevitable, but there is different degrees of @$$f**king between the branches. I'll break it down for you. Army: 12 month deployment, anywhere from 5-12 months home, sometimes as little as 2 months. You stay in the sandbox, sleep in tents, and eat really lousy food. Marines: 7 month deployments, about the same home time as Army, but you're consistently home longer. See description of Army deployment, and that's the Marines too, but the Marines are waay cooler and smarter than the Army. Navy: 6 month "deployment". You're on a boat, you sleep in a bed that you may or may not share with the guy on the opposite shift, you have daily showers, you have great food, and you pull into port routinely for "liberty", and see more than just the sandbox. Air Force: 4 month deployment. You go to the sandbox. You see that they have built you a dormitory. You sleep in a real bed. You share the bed with nobody. You have a real bathroom with shower in your room. You routinely bring the medical girls into your room and bang the crap out of them. You have pretty good food in the chow hall, although the Navy has us beat in the food department. You get to go downtown in places like Doha, Qatar, and Kuwait City and buy stuff ultra cheap. You get drunk at least once a week. It may not be legal in Kuwait, but you made friends with the Brits and the Aussies and no one keeps them from their liquor. You go back home, and, barring a new war, you stay there for a MINIMUM OF 15 MONTHS! So, you still wanna join the Army?? I'm all about making the same money for less BS, and the Air Force definitely has less BS. The choice is yours, good luck!
