Since it is not 1 ohm stable I wired my subwoofers to 4 ohms. This means it is putting out about 750W RMS x 1 Channel. I also have a 300W RMS amp for all of my other speakers on the same power wire. It is split up with a distributor in the trunk with 100a and 150a fuses respectively. Set up the way it is, it is my understanding that the hypnotic amp should be able to function at full gain and bass boost, even on 5awg wire without shutting off(I could be way wrong). If I turn the volume up and let it run for a little while it will shut off eventually for about 2 seconds and turn back on only to do it again in the next minute. I've checked the amps temp with my hand as soon as it shuts off and it honestly is not that hot so I don't think its from thermal protection. I have a red top optima in the hood and the lights used to dim severely from the Pyle amp yet it would play continuously but they do not dim on the Hypnotic amp at all even at full volume so I don't believe its low voltage protection. I have tried messing with the gain and bass boost and it doesn't make much of a difference the amp still shuts off at high volume (usually around big bass notes). My plan is to get 2awg wire installed but I want to make sure that will fix my problem instead of wasting my time. Has anyone else had similar problems or know the solution? [QUOTE="LethalProphecy, post: 6972213, member: 608652"] I have been having a ton of problems with my sub-woofer system lately. I have two SoundSplinter RL-i DVC 4 ohm 12" subwoofers. They are wired to 4 ohms in a sealed box. Before I had them wired to 1ohm on a PLA3100D, and I kept the gain at max, before realizing that my 5awg power and ground wire is way to small for such an amplifier it quickly fried the amp up and I am now forced to use my Hypnotic V1500DX. Thanks in advance.
