[QUOTE="oldschool4me, post: 3536518, member: 581630"] try and find specs of the sub ported vs sealed power ratings. ported is usaually about half of sealed. most subs are rated for a sealed enclosure. i got 400w going to 2 cvr 12s which are rated at 400 each in a ported box and they are about maxed out. the amp birthsheet stated 521 rms at 14.4v but my lil geo work beater only gets me 13.v at best lol. also good subs usually will handle a little over rated power but the enclosure is the biggest factor in determining how much power they can handle. if you have access to a mic the best way to figure it out is once you can no longer gain spl then thats it. all amps are also diffenent dont go by the numbers as they are decieving. i have alot of amps and had alot over the years. here is an example. i have a punch 360a2 and a punch 100 dsm that i recently sold. 360 was rated at 90w x2 @ 4ohms, the 100dsm rated at 50W x 2 @ 4ohms. the 100 is quite a bit more powerful.
