Huberoy-Thanks for the input, the amp cuts out if EITHER eclipse is hooked up to ANY channel on the amp, so yes I have indeed tried unhooking them one at a time. Shizzzon-Thanks as well-I tested both mids with a multimeter while out of the vehicle-both hold at about 3.5 ohms. Sorry again for possibly dumb question but I admit I am very uneducated at how to test electrical issues: How do I test properly while the speakers are inside the doors? Would I disconnect the speaker wires from the amp and attach the multimeter to the speaker wires at that spot? Or would it be better to try the wires past the crossovers? And since these are a component system should I also test the tweeters for proper resistance? One other thing I tried was disconnecting both tweeters and just running the mids. Same result-amp cuts out at same level as when the tweets were connected, maybe even a little earlier in fact. Slo_Ride-Thank You as well-If the amp has a short would it not cut off when the kicker speakers are being cranked up as well? It also seems unlikely by my experiments that there is a a speaker wire short. (Unless somehow there is a short in BOTH sets of wires leading to the eclipses which would be pretty big bummer of a coincidence) Is there a way a layman like me could: 1. Test the amp to verify if it has a short? 2. Test the speaker wires to see if there is a short somewhere? (Honestly, I don't even know what type of tool or tester would be correct to test either of these possibilities but I'm certainly willing to listen and learn. I'm starting to wonder if maybe the amp just doesn't "get along with" the eclipses for some reason or another. One other thing I have also tried was relocating the amp ground wire to a different location but that did not result in any difference in outcome, either. Thanks again in advance
