Amp fried yet again...

The headunit is a JVC KD-G340 I got off some random guy on craigslist. It makes my music skip when playing through CD's and not a ton of options for EQ.</p><p></p><p>I'll admit I set my gains to put out about 1300/1400 watts available from the amp at 40/50 volume on the deck. I have been pushing the volume to 42/50 since I hooked it up, maybe this could be my problem? I wouldn't think that upping the volume by two would cause my amp to fry but maybe it did... Also at times have been turning on the Hip Hop EQ which adds 2DB according to the JVC manual.</p><p></p><p>Anyways... I just want to know how to avoid destroying another amp this time, what actions should I completely avoid if I don't want another broken amplifier, what brands to go with if I decide to upgrade amplifiers, and also what my head unit settings should look like. This is the third amp i've blown in the last 4 months.</p><p></p><p>Just considering selling my Type R's + amp (once I get it refurbished under warranty) and box all at once on CL and going with a completely new setup.
