You are going to want an alternator for 2k or over. It's either an alternator, which provides power at a higher voltage, or a bigger battery bank, which provides power down around 12.6V. You're still going to want atleast one good AGM battery, just upgrade stock. You may need more depending on how efficient your amp is and what exactly you are running, but I know I don't see less than 13.5V running a DC 2.0k off a DC Power 270XP (270A alt) and a yellowtop under the hood. If you're buying one get the biggest you can afford. Also, I know that DC Power does case swaps for $125. I just emailed them the other day about mine. So you might be able to buy any DC used and get it swapped for your motor for a good amount less than new. You should email them about that though before you buy something. I don't know if they can make any size fit in any vehicle, as I know brand new they don't offer all sizes for all cars. They have been a lot of help with me, as I have had some issues and questions that I have pretty much pointed directly at my Yellowtop. I have not had any mechanical issues with the actual alternator. I don't know about other companies firsthand, though there are other good ones. Buy a voltage meter. I firmly believe it's the most essential tool when riding that line of possibly not having enough electrical.
