Like many of you I would imagine, I got my new Crutchfield catalog in the mail yesterday and started flipping through it to look at the new products for 2003. One of the head units that really caught my attention was Alpine's new CDA-9813 MP3/CD model. I had looked at the CDA-7894 while shopping last year and ended up going with the Kenwood eXcelon X859 instead because I liked the display a little better. The CDA-7894 had a pretty archaic "calculator style" LCD, it seemed. Yeah, I know... that's a petty issue but still. But the new CDA-9813 may make me sell the eXcelon and go back to Alpine. That sucker looks sweet! Multicolor display, typical Alpine clean interface layout, not too much {bling bling} silver or chrome to catch a passerby's eye ... perfect! Alpine's own website has NOTHING about the CDA-9813 listed yet and Crutchfield says it won't be available until the end of January 2003. Do any of you resident shop owners / workers have any hands on experience with demo models yet? I'd love to hear some first hand reports on them.
