Adding second batt. And batt. Isolator

What's ur guys opinion on fuses seems like u can never have enough. Do they affect current I mean going from 1000 thread 0 gauge to something equivalent to a paper clip seems defeating? Also how exactly do the in line fuse amps reflect your amps fuses. I've heard add them up n take a zero off. I remember as a kid running a whole system on one fuse.
