Hey man, I can't send you the link as you require a membership to the journals. If you PM me your email I would be totally happy to send you the .pdf. The point is when you say "answer honestly from your brain" - you are not speaking about a decision brain based - but emotion based. My brain says I can't deny the stats. It is the history of what has happened. Plain and simple. The stats are key, as you emotionally feel safer with a gun...and it may even initially make sense. The bottom line is in this country it has not proven to be the case. When you think about it, it is not surprising having "weapons" in your house makes it more dangerous. Lets be real, the risk of a home invasion, or actually needing a gun from a stranger is VERY LOW. By far...far...deaths and injuries in the home come from family members, friends and accidents. This risk is so much greater then the risk of being hurt by a robber. People are just not afraid, and don't think of being hurt by family/friends. But the reality is that is exactly what happens. So yes...I use to have guns at home. It did make me feel better, even locked up in a cabinet, and ammo in a seperate one. Then I came to terms with the fact it was foolish...I just was not being honest about the TRUE risks. Not my guns stay at the gun club, or at my hunting cabin. And to answer the last part ... given there are a 1000 variables it is difficult to answer....but yes....I FEEL safer with a gun. So definently I feel safer now for me..and espescially my family without a gun at home. As to defending myself...again still feel safer without a gun...but know I am 3x less safe with one.
