Add a power cell? A battery? Or even necessary?
My car is a '99 Lexus SC300. The stock alternator is somewhere 80-100amp, ..depending on who you ask. Im about to start installing my audio, ...and Im starting with a 200amp alternator. I'll be running a Optima red top, because I already have it, and I got a good deal on it. Heres a brief run down of what Im installing: hu: alpine 9886 fr: dd sc6.5 comp set rr: dd 6.5 coax's mids/highs amp: dd SS4 sub amp: dd M2a sub: one 12" dc lvl4 (lvl 5 upgrade) At one ohm, I should be around 1850w rms on the sub? Havent found a definate answer on that, either. Anyway, ...Im planning on ADDING maybe a Kinetic HC800? (Its small, powerful (i think), and not too too heavy.) Would that be powerful enough? I read that a Kinetic power cell like this is better for car audio, because of it's ability to charge and discharge much faster. Or, ..a friend suggested to just go ahead and stick a yellow top Optima in the trunk. He says that would be more than enough power, for my little system. I take alot of his advice, cause he used to compete in car audio, ...and knows wayyy more than me. I need to go ahead and order, whatever it is Im going to use. What do you guys think? Do I really need to add anything, since I have 200amps of alternator, and have a 800ca battery under the hood? If I should add, ...whats the better choice for this application?
