With the Clarion adapter, its just like your friends Pioneer, except it shows Clarion on the display. The 9255 just doesn't do much with the iPod adapter. All you can select are playlists. Because the 9255 will see the iPod as a changer, you are limited to the 5 playlists (each playlist equals a disc to the 9255), the sixth disc is "all tracks mode" which will play all the tracks on the ipod. As long as you organize each playlists (one for rap, one for rock, etc.) and keep the amount of songs in each limited, its not a bad adapter. But if you have a 20GB+ iPod and thousands of songs, its not for you. At that point, using an RCA to Mini cable and utilizing one of the 9255's aux in's would be best.
