This is a futile arguement. Drive both, pick which one you like better. I am a diehard Mustang freak. Have a 98 Cobra of my own. Yes, stock for stock the LS1 will hand the 98 Cobra it's a$$. Forget about displacement. There's a reason both manufacturers put their specific engines in each vehicle. Adding power is easy with both platforms as long as your wallet is up to the challenge. Just keep in mind, the bottom end on the Cobra is not durable at all. Powder cracked rods and hypereutectic pistons are their downfall, with the rods being the weakest link. A forged rotating assembly in the stock 6 bolt cobra block has been proven upwards of 1000+ HP, but it's costly. The F-body handles considerably better as well. It's weakest link when adding power is the 7.5" rearend. Also a pain to work on in that cramped bay. IMO, each is an awesome platform with both having strenghts and weaknesses. It's basically whether or not you're a Ford or Chevy person.
