I rewired it with a l and r on channels 1,2 and l and r on channels 3,4. This way the volume is even coming out of both sides at all volume levels, however when I balance it left and right there is full volume from both sides in the center and when inset it all the way left, but when I put it all the way right there is much less volume but still sound coming from all speakers. The amp also has a button to switch from 2 or 4 channel mode and it sounds the same in 2 channel mode when I only wire one pair of rca's with no y splitters. There is also a switch for stereo, mono, or sum on both pairs of channels and I have this on stereo.
Ok so I have a PAC c2a-chy5 connected to my factory head unit so that I can get two sets of 5v low level preouts to my sub amp and 4 channel amp for front components. I have an Orion xtr pro 500.4 bridged to a 3 way cdt comp set. The problem is that I'm not sure the rca's and switches on the amp are correct. When I got it back from my installer he had y splitters on a set of rca's and both L's going to channels 1 and 2 and r's going to 3 and 4. With it wired this way I could balance between left and ride sides but the volume on the right side was significantly lower then the left from volume 0 up to 20 out of 36, slowly correcting itself on the way up.
