ok, have a small quandry now. I can buy an ARC fd4100 for ~300 http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=225809&highlight=FD4100. I think I want this amp but.. I've been talking a lot to the owner of a local stereo shop about installing the amp and the 6x9's. He'll sell me a boston gt40 for ~300 also and cut me some slack on the labor charge since I've known him for awhile through my job. This is probably going to be a several hour install due to all the paneling that has to be removed from my MINI to install teh 6x9s - it's not a quick job at all. I'm sure the owner makes some profit off the gt40 because I've seen them NIB online for ~230. Stereo shops often won't install equipment bought somewhere else because they make profit on the equipment in addition to what they make on labor - at the same time he already agreed to install speakers I didn't buy from him. (hence originally not wanting to buy a large amp) Now, do I bring an amp I bought somewhere else to his shop to have him install it or do I buy his? I'm thinking courtesy sorta thing here. Is the ARC that much better an amp than the GT40 for me to step on some toes? I wouldn't mind giveing the shop an extra $100 or so for the install if I get enough people saying the ARC is a much better amp. One other consideration too - the GT40 should fit under my passenger seat where as the ARC would probably have to go into the hatch area of my MINI taking up some storage area. I'd probably have to make a false deck to cover it. EDIT: No need to reply to this thread anymore. I've narrowed my choices down to 3 and am asking for advice in this thread: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=232992
