3 12''s or 2 15''s?

Three 12s may have more area than 2 15s in cone area. So in theory they would be louder, if they are in the same box with the same power per woofer etc.

What amp are you powering these with? Also know that you're gonna have a funny ohmage with 3 subs.

Ive heard those subs get quite loud but they dont have very good sq.

It all depends on the woofers, some have more cone area than others(two 12inch woofers arent going to have the same cone area, the surround and duscap are also different on drivers).

But since Ma is too much of a little school girl i cant find the T/S params to multiply the area and find out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Exact cone area depends on the rest of the woofer's geometery, but...

Circumference = pi x radius^2

3 12s = 6 x 6 x pi x 3 = 339.12 sq in of circumference

2 15s = 7.5 x 7.5 x pi x 2 = 353.25 sq in of circumference

Circumference is a pretty good estimate. So in cone area, generally 2 15s > 3 12s, especially if they are the same sub.

Three 12" circles is slightly less area than two 15's, but approx the same. So unless you are comparing different brands/models with grossly different surround types/sizes, neither is gonna 'pwn' the other in cone area.

Id just go with the two 15's, its cheaper, and generally easier/more efficient to power than an odd number of subs.
