Currently I'm running a 2k+ amp on a single 10" at 2 ohms so it becomes about 1k watts give or take when the sub is only rated at 600w. Amp always runs cool and my lows are bangin' with no subsonic filter. I could've gone with a 1k@half ohm but I'm still very happy running at gramp ohms.
yea if I had the choice I would do what gotgixer said and go with the bigger amp and run 2 ohms. Rise will be about the same when comparing 2000@2 or 2000@half ohm. If you're strapped on cash, then the smaller amp with half ohm sounds more practical.
