Next up was the smallest, yet trickiest part of the entire install. Since a Range Rover is a very respectable car, we didn't want to just install some tweeters where the OEM sail panel grill and trim ring reside. Instead, we got a bit creative. The Range Rover tweeters secure to the sail panel by sliding some tabs into grooves built into the tweeter, which is then twisted to lock into place. Pretty neat. But challenging to mimic. We decided to "stack-fab" layers of acrylic that we designed in CAD and cut on the laser that not only replicates the OEM mounting but also secures the new tweeter into place. The new tweeter in question is the Audiofrog GB10oe. The GB10oe is the exact same guts as the regular GB10, but without the housing, hardware, terminals, etc. It saves you 10mm of diameter, but you have to come up with your own mounting solution. After a good amount of trial and error, this was ours. So not only does this piece secure to the OEM tweeter location, but it also has 2 important things added. First, is actually a way to keep it locked into place so it couldn't just twist itself loose over time. And second, was a way to actually secure the tweeter. What we did to prevent it from twisting back was add some fins that pressure fit onto the OEM grill tab "fins", and lock into place once it's fully rotated into place. Next up, to secure the tweeter to the new housing was we created a small lip inside that allowed the tweeter to be pressed in and snaps into place. You can see how it all works in the following video.. Here is the GB10OE vs the OEM tweeter. Below that is our first rendition, which was eventually modified as you can see in the later pics..
